1 Macromolecules Lab Results

2 Table 1 Macromolecule Chemical Test Used
(look over lab procedures for chemical test) Positive Test Result Negative Test Result (water) Lipids (Cooking Oil) (drop method) Circle #2 Residue stain present Circle #1 No residue stain present (Sudan III method) Test Tube #2 Dark Red precipitates (“blobs”) separated from rest of liquid Test Tube #1 Liquid turns uniform pale red Proteins (Albumin - Egg White Powder) Test tube #2 Liquid turns dark purple Test tube #1 liquid turns pale blue Carbohydrates— Glucose (Syrup) Liquid in test tube is Sea-green/ green Liquid in test tube is blue Carbohydrates— Starch (Cracker) Test tube #5 Liquid turns black/ dark purple Test tube #4 Liquid turns pale yellow

3 Test for Lipids (Sudan)
Table 2- period 4 Test for Lipids (Drop) Test for Lipids (Sudan) Test for Proteins Test for Glucose Test for Starch Observations: Circle#3 Stomach content stained the paper. Observations: Circle #3 Multiple lipids were found during our testing. We know this because we found multiple colors within our samples. Observations: Bubble #3 The stomach content was foggy and slightly green Observations: Test Tube 3 there was no change in color Observations: Bubble #6 The stomach content turned purple when the iodine was introduced. Present? yes Present? Present? Yes Not Present? Not Present? Not Present This should be not present

4 Test for Lipids (Sudan)
Table 2- period 5 Test for Lipids (Drop) Test for Lipids (Sudan) Test for Proteins Test for Glucose Test for Starch Observations: Circle#3 The water didn’t leave a stain. While, there was for cooking oil. For the stomach contents there was a presence of a stain. Observations: Circle #3 The water was solid pink. The lipid solution was patchy with pink and so was the stomach contents. Observations: Bubble #3 The water didn’t change. The protein had a purple tint to it. The stomach acid didn’t change. Observations: Test Tube 3 Ombre Blue Green Observations: Bubble #6 After adding the iodine solution to the water it became a tinted yellow. When iodine was added to the starch it turned into a purplish color. When the iodine solution was added to the stomach solution it became purple with tints of the color of the stomach solution. Present? yes Present? Yes Present? Present? no Not Present? Not Present? yes

5 Test for Lipids (Sudan)
Table 2- period 6 Test for Lipids (Drop) Test for Lipids (Sudan) Test for Proteins Test for Glucose Test for Starch Observations: Circle#3 When drops were added to the different circles, Circle 3 (stomach contents) was not as transparent as Circle 2 (cooking oil). Lipids were not present in the stomach:D Observations: Circle #3 After the drops of Sudan lll was added to the sample, the stomach resembled the oil (lipid solution.) The sample formed concertrationas and layer of red Observations: Bubble #3 No reaction, no color change because there was no protein;D Observations: Test Tube 3 No Recation or color change in any test-tube. Observations: Bubble #6 Stomach contents and Starch turned purple when iodine was added.-_- Present? Present? yes Present? Yes XD Not Present? this one__ Not Present? Not Present? check Not Present? Not Present Focus on this result for lipids

6 Test for Lipids (Sudan)
Table 2- period 7 Test for Lipids (Drop) Test for Lipids (Sudan) Test for Proteins Test for Glucose Test for Starch Observations: Circle#3 There was a presence of lipids because there was a residue left in circle three. Observations: Circle #3 Red Spots Observations: Bubble #3 The stomach solution and the Biurets solution mixed but the stomach solution sat on top of Biurets. The solution also stayed blue and didn’t change to purple. Observations: Test Tube 3 The water test had no color change, the glucose test changed the original from dark blue to the heated light blue, and the stomach acids changed from dark blue to a seafoam green. Observations: Bubble #6 The color turned from white to purple. Present? yes Present? no Present? yes Not Present? Not Present? yes
