17 Who Created the Cell Theory!!!
Anton van Leeuwenhoek was the first to describe living cells. Matthias Schleiden concluded that all plants are made of cells.

Theodor Schwann determined that all animal tissues are made of cells. Rudolf Virchow proposed that cells could form only from the division of other cells. Visualize It – Turn to Page 8 and complete this activity.

Carries out all life functions of the organism Multicellular – organisms made up of more than 1 cell cells have specialized functions .

A cell membrane – a protective layer that covers a cell’s surface and controls materials moving into and out of the cell. Cytoplasm - area inside the cell that includes the fluid and all the organelles except for the nucleus.

Organelles - small bodies in the cytoplasm that is specialized to perform a specific function. Nucleus - membrane-bound organelle that contains DNA. DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) - genetic material that provides instructions for all cell processes.

25 Classroom Activity With your group create a detailed picture of a cell and all the common parts we just learned about!! Parts Cell Membrane Cytoplasm DNA and Nucleus Label and describe each part. Leave space in cytoplasm!!!
