4. John 13:19 4) Bible doctrine prepares the believer for shocking behavior, such as betrayal.

5. Vs. 16, 1) The Servant must have Authority Orientation

6. Vs. 17, 2) Knowledge and application of Bible Doctrine results in Happiness.

7. Vs. 18, 3) God's Omniscience does not violate our human volition

8. Our Lord will teach them what is going to happen before it occurs, so that they won't be shocked and overwhelmed.

9. Likewise, His intention is for them to grow in faith as a result of learning and applying Bible Doctrine. Acts 1:12-20

10. They did not cycle this doctrine and were inevitably shocked, allowing the sin nature to take control of their souls as they deserted Him.

11. “From now on” - Bible doctrine presented at that moment and going forward is designed to orient the believer to the shocking and vicious acts of betrayal.

12. "I tell you" - Bible Doctrine is advantageous to all who hear and learn from it.

13. "Before it comes to pass" - Bible doctrine anticipates the shocking betrayals of life.

14. “You might believe” - having faith in the prophetic Word of God, the volitional responsibility of each person and every believer.

Principles: 1) God is faithful and just. 2) Even though He knows the outcome, He still provides the way of escape.

17. Principles: 3) He gives the unbeliever doctrine, the gospel, verses 5-11, so that he could potentially be saved.

18. Principles: 4) He gives those saved doctrine, so that potentially their souls will not suffer the ill effects of betrayal.

19. Principles: 5) Bible Doctrine protects the soul against the garbage of betrayal penetrating your soul.

20. Principles: 6) You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink!
