Get your green folder Sit in your assigned seat Take out your text book and turn to page 64 Complete the parts of the constitution table from yesterday If you are finished sit quietly and I will assign you a task

2 Articles: Second part of the Constitution
The Articles Establish Our National Government There are 7 articles The first 3 articles lay out the basic structure of the national government The last 4 cover different subjects

3 Article 1 The longest part of the constitution
Creates the Legislative Branch of government Congress: bicameral 1. Senate 2. US House of Representatives Lists the Powers Enumerated powers Implied Powers Necessary and Proper Clause

4 Article 1 Attach this table in your notebook
Follow along with me and complete the table

6 Article 2 Describes the Job of the Executive Branch= President
President executes (or carries out) laws… does NOT make them Describes who can be president and the powers Describes the Electoral College: a body of electors from each state who cast votes to elect the president and vice president TED Electoral College

8 Article 3 Establishes The Judicial Branch
Supreme Court is the highest court in the land (THEY HAVE FINAL SAY) Interpret laws to decide what they mean and whether they have been followed Judges are appointed by the President They serve for life

9 Articles 4-7 Article 4: States have Power to enforce their own laws
New states can be admitted to Union with Congressional Approval All states must have a REPUBLICAN government Article 5: Can Change the Constitution with an Amendment Difficult to amend, but can be done Article 6: Constitution is the Supreme Law of the Land Federalism is the type of government Article 7: Constitution must be Ratified 9 out of 18 states had to ratify it Ratified in 1789, Bill of Rights added in 1791
