Read Pearson p31-33 Extension reading: Laminate cards on Spain’s Imperial Policy/ For each IMPERIAL POLICY introduced by the Spanish, determine the impact on both the native and the Spanish colonists – complete the table. Breakdown impact into positive/negative/social/ political/ economic

Ferdinand and Isabella’s Decree Rules set up for Spaniards sailing to the New World: Had to register in Cadiz before they left 2/3rds of all gold found and 1/10 of all other products was to be given to the Spanish crown. 1/10 of cargo taken to the New World had to be Spanish The Spanish government knew who was in the New World. Which method of control do you think was the most effective in the short term? Which do you think was the most effective in the long term? What advice would you give to a new governor in the New World attempting to increase their contorl.?
