2. Negative Words
Make a list of all of the negative words used in Chapter 8. These can include words that connote:
Violence
Feelings
Insults
Wildness
Savagery
When finished, use as many of the words as you can to write a diary entry (1-2 paragraphs), describing your dangerous experiences on a deserted island

3. Panic, Terror & Savagery
Read the following extract, detailing Jack’s raid of Ralph’s campsite. Pick words and phrases that could connote or present images of panic, terror & savagery.
The forest near them burst into uproar. Demoniac figures with faces of white and red and green rushed out howling, so that the littluns fled screaming. Out of the corner of his eye, Ralph saw Piggy running. Two figures rushed at the fire and he prepared to defend himself but they grabbed half-burnt branches and raced away along the beach. The three others stood still, watching Ralph; and he saw that the tallest of them, stark naked save for paint and a belt, was Jack.
Panic = Anxiety, alarm
Terror = Horror, extreme fright, fear
Savagery = Cruelty, violence, uncivilized, barbaric
