2 Why Rowing? Indoor Rowing is a simple, seated activity that can be done without water, swimming ability or large playing field. Highly suitable for athletes with a physical, visual or intellectual impairment Early success --easy to compete with little to no experience Safe, fun, compelling Can be done in group settings with a wide range of abilities Y EDIT IN POWERPOINT® Click on the button under the presentation preview that says "Download as PowerPoint template". Remember to download and install the fonts used in this presentation (you’ll find the links to the font files needed in the Presentation design slide) Rowing is a fairly simple sport--anyone with the ability to pull can participate. At Community Rowing, Inc. in Boston, we have reached out to populations that are currently underrepresented in rowing and created tailored programs to meet their specific needs. These outreach groups include: -Public School Youth -Military Veterans -Youth under physician’s care for Obesity -Athletes with physical, visual, and intellectual impairments We have learned from these groups why rowing has clicked with them where other sports have not. They reported that rowing was a seated activity, not done in front of other people, no physical contact (safe physically and psychologically) and anyone can compete. Further, we know anecdotally that rowing has the ability to attract athletes who may not otherwise be sport involved. (Example: Marlene describes student who had not participated in PE before)
