8 Moscow RUSSIA

9 The first version is that Moscow was named so because of two parts of this word «моск», wich means «a stone» and «ков», which means «to hide». Because of that it was called «a stone shelter». Another theory is that this word «Moscow» came from the old Slavonic language and means «marshland». There is also the biblical version : Mesech(Мосох) in the ancient times settled on the banks of the river, and founded the city there. The river was named after Mesech(Мосох) and his wife, Kwa(Ква) – this way we got the word «Moscow». Also, the couple had children, «Я» and «Вуза», whose names gave the name to the river – Yauza(Яуза).
