2 Ayrshire Healthy Weight Strategy
Approved by NHS Board & 3 Community Planning Partnership Boards in 2014 Representation from 3 local authorities, NHS Ayrshire & Arran, one Public Partnership Forum Phase I – obesity; Phase II – underweight 10 year strategy with 3 year action plans Volume I – outcomes, indicators & action plan Volume II – local prevalence, current activity (at that time)

3 Aim & Principles Aim: to halt the rise in the levels of overweight & obesity among children & adults by 2024 Principles: Food & drink; physical activity; wider environment Prevention & treatment All population groups Settings Reduce inequalities

4 Action Plan Awareness, knowledge, skills & empowerment
Maternal & infant nutrition Availability & affordability of healthier food & drinks Active travel & active workplaces Built/natural environment Physical activity Weight management

5 Implementation Over first 3 years, oversight by pan-Ayrshire implementation group Monitored via electronic performance management system First 3 year action plan ended March 2017 Good progress on most actions; challenges with some Next 3 year action plan will be specific to each local authority area
