3 Objectives To understand that there are different types of culture, understood both sociologically and non sociologically To understand different types of culture and learn about examples of each To understand how these different forms of culture are related to norms and values To understand what is meant by cultural hybridity and consider different examples of cultural hybridity.

Complex effects on culture, for example: The growth and protection of small scale cultural practices and expressions The spread of western culture which threatens to overshadow all other types of culture

11 Hybrid culture A new form of culture created from combining two or more forms of culture Can include food (eg Thai Fusion) Music (eg Reggaeton) Art forms (using different styles of art to produce new forms of art).
