1 What is 92? The total number of naturals elements there are in the world. Click here for answer back
4
2 Who is Mendeleev? The scientist who discovered a repeating pattern to the arrangement of the periodic table and gave it its name. Click here for answer back
5
3 What is helium? What is the second lightest element on the periodic table. Click here for answer back
6
4 What is lanthanides or actinides?
Name any of the special series (rows) on the bottom of the periodic table that did not fit. Click here for answer back
7
1 What is the Periodic Table of the Elements?
The chart that lists all the elements arranged by atomic number and set-up in patterns that repeat. Click here for answer back
8
2 What is a group or family? A vertical column on the periodic table.
9
3 What is a period? Name we give a horizontal row on the periodic table. Click here for answer back
10
4 What is periodic? Something that occurs or repeats at regular intervals. Click here for answer back
11
1 What are alkali metals? Group one on the periodic table with one electron in outer cloud and very reactive (examples are lithium and sodium). Click here for answer back
12
2 What are alkaline-earth metals?
Group two on periodic table …has two electrons in outer cloud and is reactive (examples are Beryllium, calcium, or magnesium). Click here for answer back
13
3 What are transition metals?
Groups 3-12 on periodic table also includes two special series of elements on the bottom of the table. Click here for answer back
14
4 What are Halogens? Second last group on periodic table ….group very reactive (example are chlorine and flourine). Click here for answer back
15
1 What is hydrogen. The most abundant element in the universe?
16
2 What is 12? The atomic number of magnesium. Click here for answer

17
What is 40.0? 3 The atomic mass of calcium. Click here for answer back
18
What is 4.3? 4 Take the atomic mass of magnesium and subtract the atomic number of calcium and what do you get. Click here for answer back
19
1 What are metals? This is what most of the periodic table is made up of ….and they are located to the left of the zig-zag line on the periodic table… they are mostly solid at room temperature (except for mercury the only liquid) and good conductors of heat and electricity. Click here for answer back
20
2 What are non-metals? The elements are located to the right of the zig-zag line on the periodic table…they contain many gases and are poor conductors of electricity and heat. Click here for answer back
21
3 What are metalloids? Elements that are directly on the zig-zag line or close to it and have properties of both metals and non-metals. Click here for answer back
22
4 What are the Noble Gases.
This column of elements on the periodic table is full and do not need anymore electrons. They do not react very easily with other elements. Click here for answer back
