ELACCW Write arguments to support claims with clear reasons and relevant evidence ELACCRL Determine a central idea of a fictional text and analyze its development over the course of the text, including its relationship to support ideas. I can write powerful paragraphs for my argumentative essay in the allotted time frame. I can demonstrate my control of the English language by using correct grammar. I can cite evidence to determine the author’s argument and strengthen my stance on a topic.

DO WHAT?!? ATTACK THE PROMPT
Read the prompt and attack the prompt. The answers are on the following slide. Make a list of what the prompt is asking YOU to DO!

Read the directions: The articles given provide several readers’ perspectives on the issue at hand. Read your given article and determine if television has real educational value. What is your opinion on this issue? Write an argument stating your opinion while supporting it with convincing reasons from the article. Be sure to explain your reasons in detail.

Attention Grabber (1-2 sent.) Ask a Question Give a startling statistics Write a short anecdote Write a quote Stance/Position Statement (1-2 sent.) Are you FOR or AGAINST it? Topic Sentences (1-3 sent.) What are your (3) reasons why you are FOR or AGAINST the topic? After you have written your paragraph, make sure you PROOFREAD your paragraph!
