Edward R. Murrow was born on April 25,1908 in North Carolina. At the age of 27 he became the director of talks for CBS(1935).At CBS he became one of the highest respected radio and television journalist. Murrow attended Washington State University, were there he studied political science, speech and international relations. Murrow continued his work with CBS during World War II. During World War II his life was in danger by reporting the bombing of London. After World War II he started a series of recordings called Here it Now. He also had another side to him when he did the show Person to Person. In his final years ,Murrow had left CBS to join the administrator of John F. Kennedy. There he was director the U.S. Information Agency(until 1964). Due to bad health he had to retire. In April 23, 1965 died to the fact of lung cancer.

Edward R. Murrow first started at CBS on 1935 and was a successful radio and television journalist. At CBS he was a director of talks and education yet 2 years later he was transferred to London to become the chief of the European Bureau. Due to the fact that Germany invaded Austria in 1938, Murrow had to catch a plane to Vienna so he can cover more events for CBS. William L. Shirer and Eric Sevareid were to people on his team which they were often called ‘Murrow boys’.When World War II hit, Murrow risked his life to reports on a rooftop instead of an underground shelter. In 1961 Murrow lefted CBS to join John F. Kennedy administration.

5 Senator Joseph McCarthy
March 9, 1954 Edward R. Murrow didn’t have a good relationship with Senator Joseph McCarthy due to the fact that Murrow single handedly ended the witch-hunting ways of Joseph. Murrow exposed Joseph tactics in a 30 minute show talking about how the senator feels that they done violence to his words. Murrow stood up to Joseph by saying that his worked showed nothing. In his 30 minute show, See it Now Murrow attacked McCarthy by saying he was never popular and how his ratings went from 53 percent to 40 percent.
