Before lighting the burner, take the following safety precautions. Know the location of fire extinguishers, & fire blankets, and know how to use them.

3. Steps to Light Attach tubing firmly to outlet
Make a spark with a striker. Hold to side of opening in barrel.
Turn the gas full on by using the valve at the laboratory gas outlet.

Adjust the air ports until you can clearly see and inner cone within the flame
Adjust the gas flow for the desired flame height by using the gas adjustment valve on the gas outlet.

6. CAUTION If the burner is not operating properly, the
Flame may burn inside
the base of the barrel.

From this type of flame.
