The App…

“The Look” Trick or Learn?
I chose this as the app design because most apps tend to be extremely similar, in that, they are full of color. By doing this with all gaming apps, they are hard to tell apart and none really stand out. I think that this shows the “creepy”, or gothic, style that I am going for in the format of this app.

What will you see when you open the App?
Trick or Learn? When you click on the app’s icon, this is what the screen will open to. When you click on the house a menu screen will open. Menu Play Leaderboard Settings Help Click to Enter

More about the Menu Theme Music: Play: This will allow the user to enter the game (the look of this will be on the next slide). Leaderboard: This option will bring the user to the highest scores for those who have completed the game. Settings: Here, the user will be able to choose whether or not they want sound, option to link their achievements to social media and a choice to customize (name, photo, etc.) Help: this will give a tutorial on the game and help the user to operate the app.

Game Format and Instruction
How does this work? The game starts at the entrance (this is in the middle of the screen on the right hand side). The room that the user can access will be lit up, while the others will be dark with white lettering. When the user clicks, they will enter the room where a task will be placed. The tasks will escalate from memorization to synthesizing. However, not every room follows the pyramids. Like stated in the title, there are hidden tricks. Some rooms will be filled with a battle between the user’s character and a variation of the following: ghosts, fisherman and any monster that you could possibly imagine. If a user does not win, then they lose a life and cannot move on. To get to the next level, the battle must be won. In order to pass the taxonomy levels, the user will need a perfect score. If a perfect score is not achieved, then the user will lose a life (there are three lives given and, when lost, they will regenerate after three hours). Learning Level Explanations
Memorization- this will be a matching section. A quote of a poem or text will be given and the match will be characteristic of romanticism. The matching will look like a traditional matching game—a set of cards flipped over and they go away when the match is made. Understanding- quiz on the terms associated with romanticism. Explain- short responses on why the answers from the memorization section match. This will connect the term to the quote. Apply- the user will write a piece using romantic elements. Synthesize- user will look at a whole piece and say why it fits into romanticism. Synthesize Apply Explain Understanding Memorization
