“I Can Statements” 1.1 I can use models and visual representation to develop the concept of ratio as part-to-part and part-to-whole, and the concept of percent as part-to-whole 5.7 I can list and explain all possible outcomes in given situations. 5.8 I can identify the probability of events with a simple experiment. 5.9 I can use 0, 1 and ratios between 0 and 1 to represent the probability of outcomes. I can compare what should happen with what did happen in a simple experiment. I can make predictions based on experiments, and what should happen.

Why do I need to know this stuff?
When we play any type of games we are dealing with probability. What kind of games do you play with that deals with chance and Probability?
3
Vocabulary Experiment - is a situation involving chance that leads to results called _______. Outcome - is the _______ of a single trial of an experiment.
4
Predictions Prediction- What you think will happen. Example:
Certain to happen - It will happen _______ %. Likely and Unlikely
5
Vocabulary Probability - the _______ of an event occuring.
Part to Whole Brain Pop The desired outcome The total Number of Possible Outcomes Probability of getting a Head on a Penny = ___ Practice
6
RATIO Ratio - is a comparison between two different things.
Example: if a box contains six red marbles and four blue marbles, the ratio of red marbles to blue marbles is: 6 to 4 or 6 : 4 or 6/4 Part to Part and Part to Whole What is the Ratio of Male teachers to female teachers in the fifth grade?
