Copyright © 2006 Lesson 1: Logging into the STAR System Enter your supplier number (without the A) into the Supplier ID field. {Example: 99999A would login with 99999} This is the same number used to access the rest of the website. Enter your password in the Password field. Each supplier has ONE Supplier ID and Password. Click on the Login button. Links are available to change your password. ! If you change your companys password, please communicate that change to all of your co-workers that access the website. Remember: Your companys Supplier ID and Password are shared by everyone in your company and are used in other systems, such as PQR and RFQ.

Copyright © 2006 Lesson 2: STAR System Tour After logging in (by following the steps in Lesson 1), you are brought into the Polaris STAR System. You will notice that the header contains the same information and options as the rest of the Polaris Supplier Information System. You will see four new links that provide you these options: Clicking on Supplier – Home will return you to the Polaris Supplier Information System.Supplier – HomePolaris Supplier Information System Clicking on Search STAR Suggestions will open the search option that lets you create a custom subset of your projects based on the criteria you choose. Learn more about this feature in Lesson 4. Clicking on Create STAR Suggestions will open the form allowing you to enter your cost saving idea. Learn more about this feature in Lesson 5. Clicking on Logout will return you to the Polaris Supplier Information System.Polaris Supplier Information System

Copyright © 2006 Lesson 3: Viewing STAR Suggestions Clicking on View All STAR Suggestions will display ALL of your projects, regardless of the current phase and status. There are four unique views of your Companys STAR Projects. View Submitted STAR Suggestions is the default view. Its easy to change the view – simply click on the link that gives you the data you are looking for. The four options are: Clicking on View Drafted STAR Suggestions will display only your projects that are saved as Drafts; which means you created the project, but didnt finish and submit it. Think of it as work-in-progress. Clicking on View Submitted STAR Suggestions will display only the projects that you created and submitted. Projects remain at a Submitted status while the Phase progresses from 0-5. Your Polaris buyer is responsible for managing your submitted projects. He/She will enter the dates each phase is complete and you will see those updates immediately. Clicking on View Phase 6 (Complete) STAR Suggestions will display only the projects that have been implemented.

Copyright © 2006 Lesson 3: Viewing STAR Suggestions Each view displays the following data: ProjectID is the unique identifier for your suggestions. It is system-generated based on the first five digits of your Supplier Number - sequential number. Clicking on the ProjectID will open the project in view/read-only mode. Date Project Entered is the date the project was created and saved for the first time. Project Owner (Buyer) is the Lead Buyer responsible for managing the project. Current Phase is a number ranging from -1 through 7. The phases & status are described in the Overview of Changes section of this guide. Status is a word description of the phase. Options lists edit & delete functions for projects in a Draft status only. Once a project is submitted or complete, it can only be maintained by the Lead Buyer.

Copyright © 2006 Lesson 3: Viewing STAR Suggestions In all of the views, you have the ability to expand or contract one or all of the projects in the STAR Listing. Simply click on Expand All to expand all projects in the list to display Item #, Item Description and Current Cost. Simply click on the Expand box next to a Project to display Item #, Item Description and Current Cost for a single project. Remove the checkmark to contract a single project. Simply click on Contract All to contract all projects in the list to display Project level details only. Polaris goal was to create a site that was robust enough to meet aggressive cost savings goals; yet operated in a user-friendly format. We are confident that once you start using this system, you will find it easy to navigate and useful in managing your cost-savings projects.

When viewing a project, you will see the same sections of data that are available when you create a STAR Suggestion (Refer to Lesson 5): Supplier Information Project Information Item Information Project Roll-up File Attachment Plus, one additional section is available when in view mode: Project Status

Current Phase: Auto-populated based on the completed phase dates Phase #0-7 Dates: Entered by the buyer when phase is complete; updates Current Phase Target Completion Date: The original date the project was anticipated to be complete Revised Target Completion Date: The current tentative date the project should be complete Confidence Level: Indicator of how likely the suggestion will be implemented Project Cancelled/Denied: Yes identifies a cancelled project Reason for Project Cancelled/Denied: Explanation of why project cant be implemented

Copyright © 2006 Lesson 4: Searching STAR Suggestions Once logged into the STAR System (Lesson 1), click on the link titled Search STAR Suggestions. One of the many benefits of the online STAR System is the Search functionality available. Do you only want to see a list of completed projects between specific dates? What about submitted projects assigned to a specific buyer? We thought you would! So, we built-in flexible search capabilities that can provide you with a subset of your projects refined in a way that meets your needs. Do you want a list of projects created from a specific person at your company?

Copyright © 2006 Lesson 4: Searching STAR Suggestions The Search criteria box will open. You are able to search by a variety of criteria. Simply enter in the field or fields that you want to use to refine your search. And click on the Search button. The Cancel button returns you to the homepage of the STAR System. The Reset Values button clears out the fields.

If the project is valid for Editing or Deleting, those functions are listed under Options. Home returns you to the Polaris Supplier Information System, but doesnt end your STAR session.Polaris Supplier Information System The criteria used for the search is displayed. Search Again returns you to a blank Search box. STAR Listing returns you to the STAR System Homepage. Logout ends your STAR session and returns you to the Polaris Supplier Information System. Copyright © 2006 Lesson 5: Creating STAR Suggestions A few helpful tips about the Form: All required fields are clearly identified with * next to them If a field is grayed-out, the system will do the work for you by auto- populating the field By scrolling to the bottom of the form, you will see that you have three options: The form doesnt need to be completely filled out, just save as a draft and finish it at your convenience. The Buyer cant view the project yet. Cancels you out of the form and returns you to the default view of Viewing all Submitted STAR Suggestions. Any data entered is not saved. All required fields on the form must be filled out and all data must pass system edit checks. The project is then moved to a status 0 (Submitted). An email is sent to the Project Owner (Buyer) notifying them of your suggestion. Once you Submit Project, you can no longer edit it. You are able to view the project as it progresses through the phases. ! Remember: Once you click on Submit Project, you cant make changes to the project. Take time to carefully review your data before submitting.

Copyright © 2006 Lesson 5: Creating STAR Suggestions If you scroll to the bottom of the Add Item form, you will see three options: This will initiate an edit check of the data you entered and once passed, it will save the item to the project and return you to the Project Page. Saves the item and opens a blank Add Item form to add another item, without having to go back to the Project Page. This cancels out of the Add Item form and returns you to the Project Page. Item information is NOT saved. ! Tip: If you have a suggestion that involves a large number of items and entering each one isnt feasible, please contact your Buyer to discuss the best way to have it entered. Ideally, we want to track cost-saving data at the item level, but understand that in some rare cases, it wont be possible.

Copyright © 2006 Lesson 5: Creating STAR Suggestions File Attachment section: Click on Add Attachment to add a document that provides additional explanation, test results, etc. The file can be any file format/extension. Click on Browse… and select the file you want to attach and click on Open; the file path will appear in the File Name field. Enter the Description and click on Save. Once the file is attached, you have the Option to Edit or Delete it. Repeat the steps to add additional files.
