12-7-17 Layers of Earth Review
2
Do Now: Answer the following in your Science Notebook
Explain how the parts of a hard-boiled egg correspond roughly to Earth’s layers. Explain the differences between continental crust and oceanic crust. Continental crust: under the continents, thicker, less dense Oceanic crust: under the oceans, thinner, more dense
3
Homework Tonight: Study for the quiz tomorrow
Identify the layers of the Earth Describe the composition of the layers of the Earth
4
Homework Review: Trade & Grade – Take out a colored pen
Continental crust Crust Mantle Outer core Inner core Mesosphere Asthenosphere Lithosphere Oceanic crust 11. Convection currents

Layers of Earth Review: Word Webbing
Materials needed: paper, pencil/pen In groups of 4, teams will create a Word Web based on a “core” word. One person will begin with the paper and pencil and make a word association with the core word. Then, pass the paper and pencil to the next person in the group. For example, if the core word is “Summer”, you might make a web like this: Summer Sun Shiny Hot Ice cream
6
Core Word: Crust
7
Core Word: Mantle
