2. Introduction
My client Arianna is a child being raised by her grandmother because her mother is addicted to drugs and no one knows exactly where Arianna’s father is. Arianna is facing issues of separation from her parents as well as being treated differently by her grandmother because, her grandmother is afraid she will turn out like her mother. Arianna has turned to drugs because that’s what she knows from her mother’s past examples and what she see’s from her family as well. Arianna can be some what difficult to raise because she feels her grandmother just tolerates her and accuses her of being like her mother because of some of her actions. Information taken from the intake interview shows that Arianna is very misunderstood, she tries to please her grandmother but her grandmother looks down on her because of her behavior and actions. Another thing I take from the intake interview is the drug use, Arianna has seen her mother and family use drugs so she felt it was ok for her to do so as well.

4. Outline of Recommendations
When I evaluate my client Arianna, I recommend some counseling with her grandmother with a family counselor to help them build and fix some issues and concerns in their relationship as a family. I would suggest the grandmother bring the mother if she knows where she is to help Arianna find closure that her mother felt it was best someone else that she trust raise her and that it’s ok. I also would suggest substance abuse classes for the family and Arianna. I think Arianna is so use to being around alcohol and drugs she feels it’s good to help her with burying her problems and issues, but it’s really just causing a little bit more issues at home. I would also suggest the grandmother take a parenting class to be a better parent to Arianna and not always put her down. I think the grandmother hasn’t had to raise a child in awhile so it’s all new to her again, and the fact Arianna gives her so many issues she worries this adult parenting class could help the grandmother.

5. Cultural Considerations
When working with Arianna, I had to consider her age, I had to make sure everything was age appropriate. I had to consider that Arianna was a female. I had to make sure she sat down with female staff in programs that I provided for her so that she would feel comfortable to want to open up and talk about her issues and take positive feedback. I had to look at Arianna feeling how she felt because her grandmother compares her to her mother all the time, but she wants to change and be better.

6. Plan Going Forward
My plan going forward with Arianna, is to make sure she does not try to grow up so fast. I want to make sure Arianna controls her aggression, finish school, completes a drug substance abuse class to control her drug use and alcohol use for her to be so young. I would make sure her family has time to complete a family counseling session to be able to repair their relationship and some of their issues that make it hard for them to be there for one another.
