4 Enterprise Analytics and Reporting
Enterprise Analytics is recommended option for accessing and analyzing data Provides UF with report authoring, interactive (drag and drop) dash- boarding and data modeling capabilities, and ability to collaborate and share datasets between users and across departments Access at: myUFL -> Main Menu -> Enterprise Analytics -> Access Enterprise Analytics. A quick “Getting Started” video is at bottom left, and a ‘Getting Started User Guide’ is available on data.ufl.edu Reporting and Analytics page

5 UF’s Enterprise Analytics Platform
Powered by the Cognos Analytics suite – licensed for all of campus Offers query, reporting and visualization/dashboard capabilities Units can add their own data and build reports if they have the expertise (training is available) Enables access to same report from multiple places Enterprise Anlytics portal in myUFL, directly from some myUFL screens, Lobby Management screens (SalesForce), Canvas, One.UF LEAD and Universal Tracking

6

7 Sources for Reports Mainframe reports (over 800)
BOG and other institutional reporting COMPASS team report specfications Conversations with colleges, data federation, IT directors Feedback from training and workshops We will never finish developing data tools for UF – constantly updating and improving data quality!

8 Reporting and Analytic Access and Security
Primary assumption – Provide access to as much of the data as possible provided someone has a need for student data in their work Roles in campus solutions and other student systems will auto- generate roles in Cognos for viewing data additional roles needed for development Roles can also be specifically requested All of the data will be available with some exceptions: Financial Aid data Admissions data pre-decision Athlete data, select Student Groups, etc. Social Security Numbers, etc.

9 Getting Help with Enterprise Analytics
Training – use MyTraining through myUFL Workshops – available in MyTraining and via direct requests College specific planning sessions (as needed) COMPASS support (opening a support case) compass.ufl.edu website Contact Tammy Aagard or Dave Gruber or

10 Data & Reporting – Data Availability
Mainframe (NERDC) scheduled to be replaced. Most UF systems still on mainframe after Aug. 20, 2018, scheduled to be migrated off, including Registry. Steps to help with business continuity: New “CSTAT,” ESODBC: CS.WH_STUDENT_STATUS_TERM, created with new Campus Solutions codes. This will persist long-term. Uses core content – records, enrollment, universal tracking, matriculation Transfer credits, class instructor, meeting pattern to be added in mid-August Old’ version of the VSAM, DB2 and ESODBC CSTAT will be partially populated with mainframe codes translated from CS data. It is intended that these data will be available mid-August and tentatively remain available through June Currently the following fields will be populated: Reg Code UF GPA Matric term and status Foreign language Current class, college, major Current track (only as it relates to CS Sub-Plans and UF Online) Current Load Transcript totals Universal Tracking term

11 Data & Reporting – Mainframe Data Backport
Additional data to be backported includes: Transcripts (COMREC a.k.a. CREC or Screen 12) (minus transfer work for new admits) Current enrollments, courses/rooms/sections Degree audit data (minus new admits) Information NOT to be updated on the mainframe includes: New transfer work (new admits) Holds Admissions data Universal Tracking Hours to degree Excess Hours

12 Other Data Updates Most feeds will be in place by Aug. 20th
Remaining feeds will be implemented by the end of September (Excludes Person Data/the Registry) Communications have been going out to the Data Federation and ESOBDC community Listserv created for Student Data Warehouse questions and updates: Subscribe Example: Subject: <leave blank> Body: SUB STUDENT-DATA-WAREHOUSE-L <FIRSTNAME> <LASTNAME>

13 COMPASS Website: compass.ufl.edu
