2 Barnard Circulation Data
Looks at Barnard Library circulation activity Includes activity for both on-campus and Offsite collections Is only one measure of collection usage Barnard shelves no collections at ReCAP Barnard Circ desk became a delivery point for all circulating collections in 2011 Circ Desk uses several happening locations: Barnard, Butler, BorrowDirect, HSL ReCAP Columbia University

3 Barnard Circ Happening Location
Five primary types of circulation activity: charge, discharge, renewal, recall and hold Most renewals and recalls are done in the OPAC happening location, dynamically by patrons themselves Note: circulation data includes primarily “on campus” collections Five primary patron groups: BCA GRD REG OFF VIS ReCAP Columbia University

6 Observations Charge volume at Barnard in FY13 is 69.8% of FY04 volume
System-wide there has been a 27.4% decline Volume of discharge lower than charge, suggesting that Barnard collections are frequently returned at other departments Other types of circulation activity happen in much lower volume Majority of renewals occur in the OPAC happening location ReCAP Columbia University

7 Circ Activity by Collection
Recently there is increased activity for Media, IMATS and Borrow Direct Is this attributable to new collections, new services or reclassification? The majority of circulation activity is for the general, circulating collection ReCAP Columbia University

10 Circ Activity by Sub-Collection
Reserves most heavily used by undergraduates Charges for Reserves have fallen by more than half in 10 years, likely due to e-reserves ReCAP Columbia University
