The aim of the case studies is “to investigate whether spatial justice, as a fair and equitable distribution in space of socially valued resources and the opportunities to use them, can be achieved through place-based strategies, and whether these can be achieved within as well as across places and times.” (RELOCAL Deliverable 1.1, p. 79).
3
Case study field work as the main empirical data source
Case study research …for “in-depth” insights into the case and its context …for comparative analysis according to different dimensions and research interests “Local” level relevant for stakeholder inclusion

Integration of research interests WP3, 4, 7

Common Framework for Investigating the Cases
7
Selecting cases: Diverse sample, selection based on actions
How do we go about this challenge? Hypothesis: There is an interlinkage between more localised decision-making and spatially just outcomes Selecting cases: Diverse sample, selection based on actions Case study research requirements on the one hand and comparative analysis requirements on the other hand Generalising in the project: Insights into interlinkages, Factors promoting / limiting outcomes ‘Comparing’ mechanisms at work, defining analytical categories & dimensions for comparative research Defining minimum requirements regarding data-collection and data-analysis procedure, allowing for flexibility and adaptation to the specific context
