1. EAHC Representative at new IHO Council

2. Background
EAHC Procedure for Selection for IHO Council was endorsed during 3rd EAHC SCM.
From the submitted applications from MS who is interested for the seat:
If the number of candidates is equal to or lower than the number of EAHC Representative(s) assigned by the IHO Secretary-General, then the aforementioned candidates will be automatically designated as Representative(s).
In case the number of candidates is higher than the number of Representative(s), the EAHC Member States shall select its Nominated Representative(s) to the IHO Council in the following order :
The present Chair, and then the Vice Chair.
By consensus agreement of those present at appropriate meeting of the EAHC.
If a vote is required, then the result shall be based on the valid votes cast.

3. Application from EAHC Member States on Representing EAHC in IHO Council
EAHC CL 22/2016 was circulated calling Member States to write in their interest for IHO Council if additional seats are available.
To date, response received as followings:
On 21 Oct 16, Thailand has indicated his interest.
On 28 Oct 16, Indonesia has indicated his interest.

6. Action
Japan to confirm whether to occupy seat base on regional basis or hydrographic interest basis.
To decide which MS to occupy regional basis seat if Japan opt for hydrographic interest basis seat.
