Buying Clothes Before buying a new garment try it on to judge fit and appearance

Trying on Clothing One of the most important things to do when trying on a garment is to stretch, sit down, and bend over while wearing the garment

Clothing durability Durability of a garment is determined by the quality of construction and fabric used

Fabric Types Natural – made from plants or animals
Man-made- created by using chemicals in a laboratory Blends- mixing different types of fibers together, often combining natural & man-made into one fabric

Natural Fibers Fiber from plant and animal sources: cotton silk wool

Silk Silk fibers are produced by a worm!

Wool Wool is sheared from a sheep & spun into fibers

Cotton Cotton comes from the cotton plant

Man Made Fibers In general, synthetic fibers are created by forcing fiber forming chemicals through holes into the air, forming a thread. Nylon Polyester Rayon Acrylic

Blends Blended fiber - two or more different types of staple fibers are twisted or spun together to form the yarn for the fabric
