Remember my suggestions are just tips – however you want to work is fine, the results are what matters….

Add anchor points to a circle
and use the direct selection tool to bend the shape?
Use the blur tool?
Use the gradient tool?
Use multiply/screen/transparency?

3. You could….
Start by making circles, overlapping them, and using the shape builder tool to take bits away?
Use the rotate tool?
Use the shape builder tool to add colours?

4. You could….
Build your shell shape with different shapes – add them together or take them away?
Use a thick stroke?
Create a pointed shape and repeat it?

5. You could….
Make one segment and copy it 4 times…?
use the gradient tool?
Drop shadows?
Make shapes slightly bigger and slightly different shades to make the shadows?
