Starting our fifth year of INT 101
Starting our fifth year of INT We saw our first graduates of our INT program last May. Let me know if you know of any outstanding alumni doing neat things. 34 sections of INT 101 this fall (603 students & 9 empty seats). 3 service sections you will see with a V. 1 section linked to UNV. me if you have someone waitlisted. Capped at 18 students. Do not want to go over 19. INT 101 at Foundational Expose Level of Research that Reaches Out for second year. This is not an add-on. Our QEP integrates strengths of service & research. Remember our goal is to help understand & propose solutions to local, national, & global problems. Faculty Development. Last year, INT became more of a Program. Integrating Arts Domain Workshop & Transformational Education Panel. This year, Panel for Integrating Natural Science Domain Better. Work on Integrative Reader.

First Day Activities Diane Smith has written a thoughtful essay on how to explain why taking courses in integrative studies is important. This is a writing instruction course. It’s also a science course, psychology course, history class, and fine arts class. Bridget Trogden’s “open letter to my students”. “What do you want to be when you grown up? In this class, we will focus on your thinking and on expanding your thoughts with others.” Letter to yourself Freedom to Ask Questions. Courage to Seek Answers.

Why Am I Taking this Class?
Read texts which require slow reading, from left to right, & annotation. Remind that whatever you do in life, you have to write clearly. It’s important to think & wrestle with what you believe and why you believe it. It’s important to define who you are & who you will become. Connect to course title. To help you develop deeper thoughts and make transition from high school writing to college writing. In high school, you wrote to show you know something. In college, writing is about thinking.
