Definition It is a measure that tells us where the middle of a bunch of data lies. The four most common measures are mean, median, mode and range You would use this display when you want to find the over all average of a bunch of data

Example Mean- Students height in a class Median- Test scores for a group of students Mode- Finding the most common hair color in the room

Data The data required to make a graph is the mean, mode, median, and range Numerical data set

Constructed Example 0,0,0,0,0,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,2,2,3,3,3,3,15 Mean- 1.9 You find mean by adding up all the numbers and dividing it by the amount of numbers there are Mode- 1 You find the mode by finding the number that occurs the most Median- 1 You find the median by finding the middle number (it needs to be in numerical order) Range- 15 You find this by subtracting the smallest number from the greatest number If 4 more zeros were added to the data what would happen to the mode?

Advantages and Disadvantages Advantages:
It neatly organizes the data in numerical order It shows the mean, median, mode, and range Disadvantages: You cant use single, multiple, and categorical sets of data. It can sometimes be misleading or not be exact
