What do you know about courts, trials, and the roles of people involved in a case?
Can you think of any examples of trials in the media, movies, books, or television?

3. The Project
Students will participate in a trial, inspired by situations in a piece of literature they have read recently through the preparation of a persuasive case that documents the support for the arguments presented in the trial.

Read Eudora Welty’s “A Worn Path.”

5. The Case
Thinking about the characters from the story, make a list of possible crimes that might have been committed and their motivations for committing these crimes.
