The Commission Strategy on TB vaccine research
TB research has been supported from the EU Framework programmes for Research & Development (FP) in a sustainable way for more than 10 years. There has been a strategy behind, aiming at achieving substantial impact on development of new tools, such as diagnostics, drugs and vaccines, and on the research capacity in EU Member States and developing countries. The EDCTP2 Programme (2014-2024)
The EDCTP Programme has been instrumental in building research capacity for poverty-related diseases like TB in Sub-Saharan Africa. Importantly, in the EDCTP2 programme the African Member States participate as co-owners of the programme, and this helps the development and implementation of national TB research plans.
