2 What have I said to FAPSA members in the past?
In 2015, in Cardiff, I talked about accreditation and the need for proportionality for Sole Traders and SMEs Last year in Leicester I continued the theme and introduced the engagement workshop we were running in April – aims to look at what support STs/SMEs need to start working towards accreditation David showed that we are now moving towards a workable model with the support of UKAS & the FSR Copyright of The Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences

Equality of Quality The same standards will apply 17025 & must be adhered to for all those doing casework within the CJS Timeline defined in Code of practice & conduct Issue3 Also consult FSR Newsletters, Annual Report, ILAC G19, P15, Appendices to the codes Applies across all businesses large and small This is a huge challenge for ST/SMEs & the CJS who NEED the STs/SME to engage (as their services are needed) Copyright of The Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences

5 Non-Professional levels Professional levels
Chartered Forensic Practitioner Professional member for at least 3 years with a significant contribution (see additional requirements) approval by MEC Professional or Fellow with proven competency (see separate route) approval by MEC Fellow Professional PG Student on non-accredited Forensic Science Course or Individuals with an interest in Forensic Science Graduate with at least 3 years experience in forensic science role or min 8 years Forensic science role (non graduate) approval by MEC Associate Affiliate Graduate of an Accredited UG Forensic Science Course PG on an Accredited Forensic Science Course (automatic) or Any Graduate in first 2 years of Forensic Science Role Graduate of a non-accredited course approved by MEC Student Online application UG Student on Forensic Science Course All Professional levels approved by MEC & carry post nominals Online application

Year 3 Year 1 Year 2 Notes Everyone initially enrols as an affiliate Affiliate CSFS Membership ACSFS/MCSFS ACSFS/MCSFS The PD requirement can be truly individualised based on performance at each stage or force led (or combination) all based on NOS – Force developed training for any given year based on CSFS feedback.
