Managing a single battery or fleet of trucks is as easy as installing each battery with a DataTrac and opening a laptop with Douglas Data Manger and a Bluetooth Dongle installed.

To start collecting data..a new database needs to be created. Open or execute Douglas Data Manager Icon Select Database pull down menu and create NEW database
4
Douglas Data Manager WebEx
The newly created Database would look like this screen shot. Top left circle with hammer is the database maintenance tool There are two TABS Home Tab where you run 20+ reports, Download DataTracs and run Exceptions Setup Tab where you configure the DataTrac and setup Exceptions to run (More Advanced topic but in Manual) 3. Battery Detail Pane and Exception Panes are below the Report and Calendar Menus 4. Lower Left of Screen is the Database Name and number of Batteries and Records recorded

To Discover DataTracs the first time and Configure them: 1.Goto Setup Tab 2.Left Click on DataTrac 3.Left Click Discover and Douglas Data Manager will search for your DataTracs (Be sure to have Bluetooth enabled or Discover won’t work)
6

The newly discovered DataTrac will be displayed in the discovery window as available
7
Douglas Data Manager WebEx
From the Discovery Window you can right click on each of the discovered DataTracs and get access to numerous commands Such as Set Time/Date, Set Configuration and Clear Event Log to wipe out old charge data.(Unless you have the data saved in a database, this Clear Event Log will erase all data from the DataTrac. Do Not use any of the commands below and including Factory Reset unless a Douglas Technical Manager advises you to.

When Updating the Time and Date with that of your computer, you will be asked to confirm the update and the updated time will be shown on the DataTrac Status line.
9

Setting the Configuration from the Discovery Screen will result in opening a new Configuration Window
10

The Device Name is automatically populated by the configuration screen. Module ID should remain the same since it is the DataTrac Serial Number Important Note: Battery ID is Unique to each Power Logger. If you use a common Battery ID such as Douglas or Raymond or Sit Down your data files will be combined and the database will only show one DataTrac even though multiple DataTracs were downloaded. If the mistake is made, each DataTrac can have it’s name reconfigured without losing data but a new Database should be created or the old database will still contain the reference to the similar name with bad data in that file.

Apply the Configuration Settings and say YES to save and then close the Setup screen.

Under the DataTrac Analysis pull down menu will be two reports Discharge Profile-is a Daily view of usage by hourly use and worst case scenario and a second chosen day Discharge view is a DataTrac view of all hourly usage during time frame selected in report (Shows all usage superimposed on a 24 hour graph)

Basic report is called the Battery overview that highlights State of Charge, Ahr thru-put and the temperature along with various Summary points such as: Days of Active Usage (days above 40%) thru-put we disregard light days that aren’t typical of higher usage days for analyzing applications for Fast Charge and opportunity charge. We look at number of Cycles and their range of usage such as DOD 40% <, DOD 40 to 60%, DOD 60 to 80% and DOD >80% Number of finish charges and equalize charges (Wi-IQ can’t do this reliably) Charge returned and total Discharged Last or lowest voltage and Avg load voltage. Number of plugins when charger method is fast charge or opportunity charger Exception summary if setup to run exceptions.

Finish and Equalize Completed Yes or No Finish Equalize Minutes for each stage

Creating Exception Reports The Last Section will be on Exception Reporting
21
Douglas Data Manager WebEx
After opening a Database, You can go to the Setup Tab
22
Douglas Data Manager WebEx
From the Setup Tab select the Exception Option under the DataTrac. This will allow for numerous customizable Exceptions to be reported for each individual customer and Database. This will need to be done for each customer requiring exception reporting. Less is better because exception reporting will record every that happens which can become very Overwhelming to a customer. Pick one or two if a customer has known problems and try to fix problems slowly rather than all at once.

Under Conventional Charge Applications 5 activities are available for setup.

I selected the Depth of Discharge Below Limit which has two programable options Enabled True or False True means that exception will be reported on. False means that Exception won’t be reported on. The Depth of Discharge is programmable as a %

Depth of Discharge edit screen when selected. Make change and say OK and then Save for finishing with the Depth of Discharge Exception Variable.

Running Report The Exceptions will show up in the Exception window below the batteries. Presently I’m under going a revision to my Aker Wade MPM for EnerSys and it creates a conflict when I try to run Douglas reports So that is why I have no exceptions. You shouldn’t have that problem.
