Provenance for CCC Collection at the Fort Morgan Museum
Taped oral histories of CCC alumni in Morgan County. Transcribed tapes. Found enrollment and discharged records at the Colorado State Archives. Collected artifacts from each alumni member and asked donors to describe them. Lessons learned: You learn more about people then they may tell you. Over time items may get mixed up. How to Find Information The following records are held by the State Archives, and are searchable using our Archives Search database: All Colorado Enrollment Records (View an example) All Colorado Enrollment cards (microfilm/indexed) Some of the other CCC records held by the State Archives include: Applications/Discharge Notifications Reports Enrollment Reports Narrative Reports Annual/Quarterly Reports – CO Dept. of Public Welfare Manuals and Handbooks Correspondence Rosters Station Lists Publications Newsletters Publicity Maps Photographs and Other Photographic Media Request a CCC Record View our Associated Fees

Provenance in “Stealing Banners: The Broomfield Star Prowlers”
A resident asked the museum if we wanted a banner from defunct Broomfield square dance club. We asked the potential donor to tell us more about the banners and the club. We learned she and another dancer made them. The club danced at several local actions over the years before ending up at the Crescent Grange and that sometimes clubs would steal banners from each other thus the second banner. What? The donor described the stealing process, which we wrote down. We Googled “square dance club banner stealing” and up came the official rules from the national organization. It all matched. We asked for more documentation and she gave us photographs showing the banner being used, the official tube for the stolen banner, and a certificate from a steal.
