AUGUST 20-SEPTEMBER 7--EVERY SCHOOL 7:15AM
(LABOR DAY)
ONCE GAMES START--SEPT. 10-END OF EXCEPT FOR GAME DAYS AND DAY AFTER GAME (TUES/WED except for Oct. 10 vs. Liberty Hill)

4. PRACTICE SCHEDULE 8TH GRADE AUGUST 20-24 AFTER SCHOOL UNTIL 5. M-F

SEPTEMBER 4-7 AFTER SCHOOL UNTIL 5. TUES-FRI
BEGINNING WEEK OF FIRST GAME--MONDAY (BEFORE GAME) BEFORE SCHOOL @ 7:00, WED & THURS AFTER SCHOOL UNTIL 5. FRIDAYS DURING PERIOD WITH OPEN WEIGHT ROOM AFTER UNTIL 4:30 PM. (LIBERTY HILL WEEK)

5. GAME SCHEDULE
No practice on game days. No late practice the day before a game. No early practice the day after a game.
8th vs. GHS
Farley/Hutto road games is 4:30, B after due to lights
Elgin field is old middle school
Liberty Hill field is at old elementary
Tippit 8th site is TBD**

6. POSITIONS / TEAM / PLAYING TIME
We allow players to try out at positions, we reserve right to move them based on team needs.
Players will play where they will help the team most.
Players will all play. They may not play equal amounts. They may not play both sides of the ball. Playing time is earned in practice and by performance in games. Every player has a role, not all roles are the same.

7. INJURIES
Playing football requires collisions and contact. At some point, your athlete will get banged up--he’s not the first player to deal with this and he won’t be the last.
Coaches should be the first people notified when an injury is suspected. That means your athlete is responsible for letting us know. We have a system for handling injuries. Coach -->Trainer-->Doctor (only if needed).
The nurse or doctor will pull the player out even if the injury does not interfere with playing. The trainer will treat the injury and return the player to participation with no threat to safety.

8. PARENT EXPECTATIONS
Please sign the parent contract if you were not at the meeting last spring.
We encourage you to be at all games, to be involved in the season, and to volunteer where needed to increase your enjoyment of your athlete’s experience.
Please respect coach’s decisions and communicate concerns via proper channels.

10. PURCHASES
I will be shutting down our online store after Friday, August 24.
Please make your purchases for meals, game day shirts, and yard signs by then.

11. TEAM PICTURES
Order forms will be sent home in the coming weeks for team pictures on September 6.

12. VOLUNTEERS
We always need volunteers for things like team mom (meals), chain gang, etc.
Please sign up on GISD website to help us out and expedite the process.
