READING LESSON: MIND MAPPING TOPICS 25 MINUTES
You will create a mind map of the universal topics in To Kill a Mockingbird. From this, you will begin to trace the development of themes in the novel. Follow the directions below. You may listen to music while you work. Obtain one 11X14 piece of white paper and a selection of markers/pencils. Label the center of your paper “Universal Topics in TKAM”. Create the following 5 branches and note that some have sub-categories: Prejudice: gender, racial, social class; Courage; Gender Roles; Education; Perspective (You may add others of your own choosing). Include specific evidence from the book to support each universal topic (give chap/page#) 5. Remember that a good mind map contains curved, colorful lines and pictures. Need to see a mind map?
