ECDS Golden Rules Refreshes of data MUST be in same format as original
Please don’t cross the streams (Crossing the streams is bad) Don’t Submit CDS 010 and ECDS (CDS 011) for the same activity Once you’ve submitted in one format, don’t submit the same activity in the other format
8
Dual counting / dual submission
If you have submitted the same data to both CDS010 and CDS011 then please delete one set of records as soon as possible Duplicate data causes serious problems for all data consumers and is likely to result in payment problems for your ED Mapping “forwards” from CDS010 is impossible and will not count as ECDS implementation It will be possible to tell if this has been done via e.g. a histogram of the diagnosis submissions You will be contacted if we suspect you have duplicated data
9
DQ feedback (including CQUIN DQ)
Netta Hollings, NHS Digital Dominic Gair, NHS Digital
10
DQ feedback (including CQUIN DQ)
We are running behind schedule on this We understand how important this is to success We will get the initial CQUIN DQ reports to Trusts as soon as possible There will be a period to allow DQ issues to be resolved There will then be a “final” report which we recommend that CCGs will base CQUIN payments on Attendance ID… We’ll use a similar report to confirm Early Adopter status
11
Secondary Care Analysis ECDS Update
Early DQ and CQUIN Analysis Will be available via SharePoint (like the current SUS DQ dashboard). All providers and CCGs currently have access to this. If you do not have access to this and need it please with subject title “ECDS DQ Dashboard Analysis Access”. Actual release date TBC but users will be notified when available.
12
Secondary Care Analysis ECDS Update
Current Reporting Tomorrow NHS Digital publish first A&E CQI that utilises mapped ECDS data into our traditional statistical outputs. A methodology change paper outlining some of the impacts this may have on these statistics will be available via on the same day. For M7 we are aware that some organisations have chosen to submit both ECDS and A&E CDS10 data for the same activity for the same reporting period. We would like to highlight again please that providers should not do this as it may adversely impact reporting of data.
13
Secondary Care Analysis ECDS Update
Publication of Early Experimental Analyses Intended to include additional analyses as part of HES on 11 January Initial focus on DQ and the range of chief complaint, diagnosis, investigations and treatments in the first few months and also total comparisons against historical data volumes as well. Discussing with key stakeholders nature of longer term reporting requirements from April 2018 onwards when transition of Type 1 and Type 2 units is complete. We would welcome any feedback on particular measures that you would be interested in seeing in these future reports please using “Future reporting of ECDS data” in your subject title.

ECDS Information Standard Subsets (TOS) vs SNOMED CT Subsets on TRUD
Pat Carter, NHS Digital
15
Background Information Standard published in April 2017
Aug / Sep – first ‘live’ use of ECDS New SNOMED codes requested Some of these added to the TRUD in Oct 17 (as part of the SNOMED CT (biannual) update) Also, the update included the replacement of some SNOMED codes used in the TOS (e.g. If a SNOMED CT code is retired / replaced) BUT … We can’t update the TOS as it is part of the Information Standard So ….TOS and TRUD are out of sync lots of confusion and unhappiness
16
Key Points for ECDS In an attempt to make everyone happier we agreed that: All SNOMED codes in the TOS will be accepted by SUS and remain ‘valid’ for SUS+ / HES and CQUIN analysis, i.e. The Information Standard remains Additionally, all SNOMED CT codes in the TRUD (new and replaced codes) will be accepted by SUS and be added to the ‘valid’ list for SUS+ / HES and CQUIN analysis The mappings document (ECDS to CDS 010) has been updated to allow for the new codes If you use the TOS for implementing ECDS, there is no requirement to change anything although if you wish you can use some / all the new SNOMED CT codes on TRUD If you use the TRUD to download ECDS subsets, then you can continue to do so, you will automatically have the new SNOMED codes And hopefully, everyone is happy
17
Web Page By end of the week, we are publishing a web page to explain this: Includes a spreadsheet of the updates to TRUD that occurred in October. For example: Note: Most of these updates will be included in the next Information Standard update (TOS V2.0) in April 18 or beyond …. EMERGENCY CARE DIAGNOSIS (SNOMED CT) New Drusen of optic disc (disorder) Dysfunction of sphincter of Oddi (disorder) Replaced Injury of muscle at forearm level (disorder) 1 Injury of muscle at shoulder level (disorder) Injury of muscle at upper arm level (disorder) Ischemic optic neuropathy (disorder) Optic disc edema associated with retinal disorder (disorder) Papilledema - optic disc edema due to raised intracranial pressure (disorder) Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (disorder)

DSCRO update Peter Sherratt, NHS Digital
19
DSCRO update The IGARD / governance process is moving forwards
Letters will be going out soon to CCGs One to those with valid DSFC (data sharing framework contract) and where their data protection registration with ICO is up to date (they will get a letter informing them of next steps) If they have an issue with their DSFC and/or ICO registration they'll get a different letter(s) saying those things would need to be sorted before they could proceed. All DSCROs have got early access so they can begin preparations for data release, except the three in the South West
