1 The Keys to a Successful Mentorship Program
East San Gabriel Valley ROP received a $4,449,251 grant at 75% funding from the U.S. Department of Labor-Employment and Training Administration to administer a Youth Career Connect Program. East San Gabriel Valley ROP will provide a 25% ($1,145,835) matching contribution towards the YCC program. Auxiliary aides and services are available upon request.

Set Timelines Setting timelines helps keep you, and the program on track Identify your Target Audience Students interested in receiving a mentor are more likely to follow though Seniors students Interview potential Mentor Application, agreements, background checks Organize a Mandatory Orientation and Training for all new Mentors Hold such events during times that are convenient for your target audience Keep events short one hour or under Fundraiser to be able to provide food during the training Keep trainings fun and interactive Match Mentors with Mentees Career goals and mentor experience Educational goals and mentor experience Don’t forget our Mentor event tonight at Del Norte! 3 Quarterly Themed Events for Mentors/Mentees
Host onsite mentoring events During first meetings make sure to have mentors and mentees sign an agreement. Keep original agreement in files and provide the mentor and mentee copies to keep Make events fun, fundraiser to be able to provide food, and raffle prizes Encourage parent involvement Open Alternative Meet-up Dates for those unable to make it to the organized Events This allows those unable to attend the organized events an alternative Meeting locations on campus, boardrooms, classrooms, available office spaces Request Monthly Mentor Documentation Forms Ensure that you are kept update with the progress of the mentor relationship but requesting each mentor to submit a monthly documents form that explains their contact with the students via, , text, etc. During Final Event of the year Recognize your Seniors! Have your seniors be your recruiters for next year’s group of new mentees if they are excited and enjoying themselves they are likely to tell others about the program, word of mouth is a good way to grow any program I GOT AN A+!!!!!
