1 Munich, Germany Growing at 11.81% in 10 years

2 History Capital and largest city in the German state of Bavaria.
Located on River Isar - north of Bavarian Alps Third largest city in Germany with a population of 1.47 million people Mild climate No dry season Warm summers Heavy precipitation during mild winters Average temp. 46* Temperate deciduous forest

3 Plants Fagus Sylvatica - Otherwise known as the Beech tree.
Can reach up to 50m tall Large leaf canopy Able to survive in poor soil conditions It has adapted to survive very well in cold weather conditions.

4 Animals Wild Boar Wild boar population increased exponentially after WWII. This caused problems because the wild boar is a dangerous animal. The population is now still high but the animals are not causing as much harm as they once did. They can be hunted and used for food.

5 Wildlife Not many predators in the wild near Munich.
The wildlife in this area mainly consists of deer, squirrels, rabbits, quail and pheasants. The otter and the wildcat are two of the more rare animals found in the wild. Munich does have one zoo, the Tierpark Hellabrun. The zoo contains many rare species and is a major attraction in the city of Munich. Creating more protected wildlife areas preventing animals from being hunted. Assembling more groups of people to plant trees. Educating people on the wildlife and how to help create more biodiversity throughout the city.

6 City’s Adaptation Munich wants to achieve 100% renewable energy by 2025 Use water, geothermal, solar and biomass to get energy Want to reduce CO2 emissions Recently added wind power Summer 2009, put in 25 windmills Power consumption: 7.5 billion kWh per year They want reliable, secure supply of electricity, district heating, natural gas and water. The project will cost 9 billion Euros which is equivalent to $11,225,700,000

7 Food and Water With Munich constantly growing, there are lots of restaurants in the city To preserve natural life, create vertical buildings to use less space and always add rooftop gardens. As for water, they can retrieve and purify water from nearby rivers like the Isar River.

8 Waste Germany produces 30 million tons of garbage annually
Use the Green Dot system putting a ‘limit’ on packaging where the more packaging there is, the higher the fee Use proper sorting of garbage too by using colored bins and separating all the different reusable materials.

9 Transportation Make the tickets for transportation cheaper
Add more busses & railways Make them travel to more than just their one zone Restricted vehicle access in urban areas Keep vertical housing clothes to work places Higher taxes for those who live farther away from work Higher taxes on those who own more than 2 cars Munich is set up to be a very walkable city It also contains several public transportation ways for traveling You have to buy tickets for certain zones

10 Work Life To settle in Munich, its recommended that peoples’ salaries are slightly above average because Munich has the highest cost of living in Germany but everything is close in the city
