1 Summer Planning “On the Road to Rigor”

2 2012-13 plan Continue with Storytown instruction and assessments
Transitioning to CC by integrating the READING standards Why? Need to do a better analysis on complexity of texts in Storytown. We have lexiles but that is all. Grade 3 almost all texts are in the “band” still need a few that are higher but grade 4 only 8 of main selections in correct complexity band. Also too many changes and too many holes to fill to work on new texts and new instruction. More and more materials are being created and produced that are aligned so waiting a little while is better. Philosophy- let’s get familiar with the instructional expectations, increase rigor first then increase text complexity.

3 Timeline Implementation of Reading Standards Instruction on Writing, Language, Speaking & Listening Implementation of R, W, L, SL Smarter Balanced Assessment- All CCSS will be addressed
