Famous Wartime photographer Photographed five wars: Spanish Civil War Second Sino-Japanese War Word War II 1948 Israeli War First Indochina War Believed that a good photographer needed to be close to the subject to get a good photograph. Was often in the trenches with the soldiers taking photographs

Spanish Civil War The Falling Soldier Claim to fame
Taken September 5th, 1936 Originally thought to depict the death of a Republican Later identified as an anarchist militia Image was thought to be a true depiction of the war (ie. a documentary), however recent recently it is believed to have been staged. Suggested it was not taken at the battle site The Falling Soldier

World War II D-Day Landing
Most famous photos to date are The Magnificent Eleven Series of photos taken on D-Day While taking constant enemy fire, he took 106 photos. All but 11 were destroyed during a processing accident in the Life Magazine lab in London. Saving Private Ryan is said to have been inspired by these photos D-Day Landing

The reason I chose these three photographers is because each of them captured images during a difficult time either physically or emotionally. For my final project I intend to capture images of people who are struggling, either physically or emotionally. I intend to display these struggles through the photos I choose to display during my final critique.
