12. Why do these people think they are better than others---
Why this parable?
Directed to those who trusted in themselves that they were
Righteous and Despised others. Self-righteous (Take heed brethren, Heb.3:12)
Why do these people think they are better than others---
They think they are righteous and actually detest others!
Remember: He thanked God that he was not like other men. In his
Eyes, look what he did not do!!
1. Extortion (cf blackmail)
2. Unjust
3. Adulterer
4. Or even as this Publican!!

13. Now look at what he did!
1. Fast twice a week
2. Gave tithes of all that he possessed!
Well, what is his problem? He needed to clean up his own house
before judging the Publican! In his eyes,
he needed no mercy
because of what a good person he was (as he saw it).

14. The Publican.
He stood away off
He did not lift up his eyes to heaven (probably ashamed of
how he must have looked)
Smote his breast!!
And declared: God , be merciful to me a sinner.!
What sins? How many sins? What were they?
Public or Private Sins???

15. Verdict! How did God look at these prayers
Jesus said: (And that is what really matters)
I TELL YOU… (all matters settled by…thus saith the Lord! )
I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted

people today. They have all kinds of demands on condition
of pardon! )
