DFQ #4 Why is having a good self-concept important?
How much does getting good grades affect self-esteem? Do adolescents become delinquent because they have low self-esteem? Having a positive self-concept not only makes it easier for a person to be friendly and outgoing, but it also gives him or her the confidence to try new activities and to take on challenges. Having a positive self- concept leads to having high self-esteem, as well. Getting good grades enhances self-esteem, but having high self-esteem and confidence in your own abilities help you earn good grades. Delinquents do not necessarily have low self-esteem. In fact, in some studies, they have been found to have an inflated sense of their own talents and abilities.

DFQ #5 What do late teens think acting "grown up" means?
What is rationalization? What is conformity? Driving a car, holding a part time job, dating and partying. A process whereby an individual seeks to explain an often unpleasant emotion or behavior in a way that will preserve his or her self-esteem (ex: I was tardy today but that is fine because I needed to make up sleep since I stayed up too late last night) Acting in accordance with some specified authority (ex: not having a hairstyle that you like because your group of friends would not accept it)
