2 Manufacturing and Technology Resource Consortium (MTRC)
Stony Brook University NY- Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) Key services The MTRC at Stony Brook University is the regional NY-MEP center for Long Island, with a focus on Biotechnology.  Our mission is to support small to medium-sized manufacturing companies to increase competitiveness of NYS manufacturing. Connect manufacturers to essential industry resources Provide companies with access to workforce training resources Provide consultant service and supplemental funding to companies Key Capabilities & Industries Served MTRC is the only campus-based MEP center in NY. We maintain an array of industry specialist as program partners from within and outside of Stony Brook University. MTRC can aide companies to: Incorporate new technologies and improve productivity Advance their products through Research & Development and Continuous Improvement projects Modernize equipment and processes & Accelerate commercialization and innovation Support customized workforce training, development and process improvement programs

5 Leviathan Energy designs, builds, and markets small renewable energy devices.  They worked through SPIR to perform computer-aided design and engineering of a portable hydrokinetic turbine for a Navy SBIR project, involving shroud assembly design, blades, hub, casing, shaft, gear, generator, rudder, and installation mechanism attached to the casing. The company uses 3-D printing for product. MTRC Project No Leviathan Energy is in the final stage of FuzeHub’s Commercialization Competition for 2017. The focus of this project is to build a gas heat pimp. Two prototypes have been built for testing. ThermoLift will develop a thermodynamic model for current prototypes from first principles, with testing and refinement. MTRC Project No In addition to the MTRC award, they are currently working with our program partner, CPC, on several additive manufacturing projects. Theragnostic Technologies conducts studies to enable successful investigational new drug (IND) application for a novel high performance carbon nanostructure-based magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agent (CA) that will be used to diagnose and monitor patients with renal failure. MTRC Project No In addition to the MTRC award, Theragnostic Technologies has been granted a NIH award for this project. As part of our biotech cluster, they are also working with our Biotech CAT. Vascular Simulations  Vascular Simulations has developed a physical replica of the main branches of the human arterial tree. The uniqueness of the system is that it can be customized to patient specific pathologies and thus can be used for treatment planning, particularly those using endovascular interventions.  Now that the system has been developed what is needed, in addition to process improvements, is validation of the system through measurement and simulation.
