The average red blood cell lives for 120 days
We give birth to 100 billion RBC’s every day.
The average white blood cells live for about 3-4 hours in the blood & 3-4 days in the tissues
We give birth to about 1.2 million WBC/second!
There is 1 WBC for every RBC
This is an actual picture of White Blood Cells, in with some red blood cells. The platelets are stained purple, a T-Lymphocyte white cell is stained green, and a Monocyte white cell is stained gold as seen through a scanning electron microscope.
