2 Daniel 6:1-3 King Darius appointed 120 satraps and 3 administrators (including Daniel) throughout his empire. Daniel “distinguished himself above the other administrators and satraps” and the king made plans to promote him over the whole kingdom.

3 Daniel 6:4 Filled with jealousy, the satraps and administrators tried to find something bad about Daniel to report to the king – but they couldn’t.

4 Daniel 6:5-9 The devious plan: get “praying Daniel” killed by convincing King Darius to sign an irrevocable edict declaring that, for the next 30 days, anyone praying to any god or man except King Darius would be thrown into the lions’ den.

5 Daniel 6:10-18 Daniel decides to keep praying – in plain sight.
The bad guys catch him and tell the king. Reluctantly, Darius is obligated to throw Daniel into the lions’ den.

6 Daniel 6:19-24 God sends an angel to shut the mouths of the lions – Daniel is saved! King Darius is overjoyed because of Daniel…but really angry at the men who connived this plan.

7 Daniel 6:25-28 King Darius sends a letter throughout his empire glorifying the God of Daniel. “So Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian.” (Daniel 6:28)

8 (that I won’t be talking about)
Lessons from Daniel 6 (that I won’t be talking about) Do the right thing because it’s the right thing. When should I trust people and when should I not trust them? We should pray. A lot.

9 The administrators and satraps kept trying to find a charge against Daniel regarding the kingdom.
But they could find no charge or corruption, for he was trustworthy, and no negligence or corruption was found in him. Daniel 6:4

10 Integrity: behavior that aligns with the high moral standard one claims to believe.
Hypocrisy: behavior that contradicts what one claims to believe.

11 Ways we can respond to people who play the “hypocrisy card”
You’re right – we are hypocrites. And I’m sorry that on some days I’m your reason for not going to church or choosing Jesus.

12 Ways we can respond to people who play the “hypocrisy card”
You’re right – on some days we are hypocrites. But…every human is a hypocrite.

13 Ways we can respond to people who play the “hypocrisy card”
Can you evaluate Christianity by how it is supposed to be “played” rather than by how some people play it?

14 Pursuing a life of integrity
Daily / regular prayer for a desire to live with integrity.

15 Pursuing a life of integrity
Daily / regular prayer for a desire to live with integrity. Give your shame and guilt to God; your past doesn’t have to define you!

16 Pursuing a life of integrity
Confess your sins (including your secret sins) to God and to one other person. The one who conceals his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them will find mercy. Proverbs 28:13

17 Pursuing a life of integrity
