These drawings for designs show how it will be constructed both graphically and through annotation. How they will adjust, rotate or fix to surfaces. During designing reference should be made to design criteria. Statements should be Justified to state how or why statements meet or do not meet the design criteria
2
These drawings are a poor choice of design task the designs are very similar. Materials and processes are also similar and the range of design opportunities is very narrow designs a little more of the body styling exercises. What is important when choosing your Design task and design criteria is that you allow yourself enough scope to achieve the range of marks by allowing variety of manufacturing methods materials, creativity and design form.
3
The slide represents a poor approach to designing, simplistic designs are accompanied by copious amounts of annotation which is technically correct but it is not attempt to explore graphically house up systems would operate it is not expected that all students will have high level sketching skills but it is expected that students will communicate their ideas graphically.
4
One design should be fully developed
One design should be fully developed. It is not acceptable to take an initial idea and provide superficial development been present it as a final idea. Student should get enough as much information as possible about the developed design this is an opportunity to show your knowledge and understanding of the making processes.
5
Detailed evidence of component parts is acceptable and are a good idea if your Design has components within it. 3D drawing and CAD have been used well here to detail the design.
6
3D Modelling is an important part of designing and should be used to test, Scale, Proportions and Mechanical Detail, modelling can be done with the use of traditional materials or CAD simulations or 3d printing it should not be used for presentation purposes or cosmetic reasons. The final design proposal should scaled third party to make their product getting detailed information on manufacture materials and components repairing bike two specification points clearly stating which points have been met and justifying the answers
7
When creating a plant reproduction students must find a sequence of manufacturing operations to an appropriate order they must also consider the time taken for his operation and cancel the important deadlines it is important to include detail when specifying important manufacturing operations it's not sufficient saying for example "cut legs of the stool" or drill holes instead more information is required eg. "cut four legs to length of 400 millimetres using a Tennon saw" or “drill 2 20 millimetre holes using a flatbit and pedestal drill". When considering time taken for operations that should be considered in hours or minutes. Time period setting lessons weeks or dates give no indication of how long periods are and therefore must be avoided. A production plan can be given in any appropriate form so long as it gives the required information. The slide is a good example of a production plan giving the sequence of operations detailing information on sizes and equipment to be used. Quality control checks for specified which is not a requirement but is good practice for A2 when this will be a requirement. Time and deadlines recorded using a gantt chart showing the length of operations.
8
This is an example of a production plan which shows little detail and which gives limited use for a third party trying to follow the plan. Any works in this section on health and safety or justification of manufacturing techniques would be given within the making section of the marking scheme.
10
As evidence of manufacture clear photographs must be submitted providing enough detail to justify marks giving and making section ASDA photographs are the only proof of manufacturing quality it is essential that images contain evidence of levels of difficulty and complexity of construction. It is important that the images of big are not allowed the moderating to seat details larger images are of more help than many thumbnail images where detail is difficult to see.
