Resource 1 – Twitter Board
I select a current topic/issue in the media related to Sociology. I then write a tweet on the board (usually as a starter activity). Following a brief discussion about topic/issue; students retweet their views based on their sociological knowledge. Making connections and placing information into a wider context. Connecting new and existing information together.

Resource 2 – Connect 4 Team game

Resource 2 – Connect 4 This resource is also modified for Year 13 students (Higher ability): Start with a coloured board Student selects a key word at random and explains key term Students apply knowledge of sociological topics studied; by connecting different words to develop interpretation and analysis skills. E.g. Social media, subculture, deviant and gender. Connect the information and then construct meaning. Information is then categorised for students to make new connections and consider topics in a more detailed way

Resource 3 – In the Net This resource is used in various way:
Students choose a ball, which is labelled with key terms. They define/explain the word and how they would use it in an essay. Students choose a ball, they explain and spell the word to improve SPAG and written communication in an essay. Students choose two balls, they define each word and then explain how they would link them together to show AO2 skills. Connect the information and then construct meaning. Activity would be followed by an exam (essay) question, whereby students should use key terminology (spelt correctly).
