2. Do I have to serve..?
If you have less than 8 years upon separation it must be fulfilled through one of the following:
Selected Reserves (SELRES)
Individual Ready Reserve (IRR)
Either one may fulfill the contract obligation, but the requirements are completely different

3. SELRES You can affiliate with the reserves through:
Career Waypoint Quota
Navy Reserve Recruiter
May be recalled to Active Duty involuntarily for up to 270 days
One weekend a month and two weeks a year for annual training

5. IRR…WHO?
Automatically assigned if member doesn’t associate with SELRES
May be involuntarily recalled upon declaration of National Emergency

Members may participate in voluntary tours of Active Duty
Take advantage of military professional education programs
