“Some years ago, it was my privilege to visit the country of Morocco as part of a government delegation. As part of that visit, we were invited to visit some ruins. Five large black limousines moved across the Moroccan countryside. I was riding in the third limousine, which had lagged some distance behind the second. As we topped the brow of a hill, we noticed that the limousine in front of us had pulled off to the side of the road. As we drew nearer, I sensed that an accident had occurred. The scene before us has remained with me for these many years… John R. Lasater, “Shepherds of Israel,” Ensign, May 1988, 74

“An old shepherd, in long flowing robes, was standing near the limousine in conversation with the driver. An accident had occurred. Nearby, I noted a small flock of sheep numbering not more than fifteen or twenty. I noticed the old shepherd reach down, lift the injured lamb in his arms and place it in a large pouch on the front of his robe. He kept stroking its head, repeating the same word over and over again, calling it by name. ‘All of his sheep have a name, for he is their shepherd, and the good shepherds know each one of their sheep by name,’ said my interpreter. The king’s vehicle had struck and injured one of the sheep belonging to the old shepherd. Because of this, the Shepherd was now entitled to 100 times the sheep’s value. John R. Lasater, “Shepherds of Israel,” Ensign, May 1988, 74

“My driver predicted, ‘The old shepherd will not accept the money. They never do.’ Startled, I asked him why. And he added, ‘Because of the love he has for each of his sheep.’ It was as my driver predicted. The money was refused, and the old shepherd with his small flock of sheep, with the injured one tucked safely in the pouch on his robe, disappeared into the beautiful deserts of Morocco.” John R. Lasater, “Shepherds of Israel,” Ensign, May 1988, 74

SHEEP
6
SHEEP Nearly two hundred times, GOD's people are called sheep in the scriptures. Sheep are very dirty. They need someone else to clean them. Sheep are helpless against predators. They chew without looking up…. They become lost very easily. Sheep life is one long game of follow-the-leader. Prompt rescue is necessary. Sheep can’t digest until they lie down. But sheep don’t have sense enough to lie down, even when they are aching. You have to make them lie down for their own good. If sheep fall into moving water, they drown. Their coats absorb water rapidly. Sheep fear moving water and won’t drink unless the water is still. Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd 1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

The Lord is my shepherd "Chris" was found in Australia.
An average Australian fleece weighs 11 pounds and takes approximately 3 minutes to shear. It took 42 minutes to remove Chris’ fleece, which weighed 89 pounds.

The Great White God

Quetzalcoatl He was born of a virgin named Chimalma.
He was the god of the Aztec Priesthood. He was white and had a beard. He invented books, the calendar, and gave corn to the people. He was a symbol of death and resurrection. He created a new world inhabited by people that were brought to life with his blood. The blood came from wounds on his body. He came from the sky, and when he left he promised to return.

The Voice: How do we open our ears?
3 Nephi 11:3-5 The Voice: How do we open our ears? President Harold B. Lee: “It is a great thing to be responsive to the whisperings of the spirit. They come when we are relaxed and not under pressure. Let me relate a story to you… Bishop John Wells’ son was killed in Emigration Canyon on a railroad track. His boy was run over by a freight train. Sister Wells was inconsolable.
23
“One day soon after the funeral services while she was lying on her bed relaxed, still mourning, she said that her son appeared to her and said, ‘Mother do not mourn, do not cry. I am alright.’ He told her that his foot caught on a root and he failed to catch the hand rail of the train, and his body fell under the train. It was clearly an accident… “He said that as soon as he realized that he was in another environment he tried to see his father, but he couldn’t reach him. His father was so busy with the duties in his office he could not respond to his call. Therefore, he had come to his mother. He said to her, ‘You tell father that all is well with me, and I want you not to mourn any more.’

Have you heard the voice of the Lord? What did you do to hear it?
“If we are worried about something and upset in our feelings, the inspiration does not come. If we so live that our minds are free from worry and our conscience is clear, the operation of the spirit of the Lord upon our spirit will be real.” (Prayer address to Seminary and Institute faculty, BYU, 6 July 1956, 14-16). Have you heard the voice of the Lord? What did you do to hear it?

“It is a significant and hopeful fact that it is the wounded Christ who comes to our rescue. He who bears the scars of sacrifice, the lesions of love, the emblems of humility and forgiveness is the Captain of our Soul. That evidence of pain in mortality is undoubtedly intended to give courage to others who are also hurt and wounded by life, perhaps even in the house of their friends.” (Jeffrey R. Holland, Christ and the New Covenant, 259).
