Overview The Middle School team at Desert Oasis Elementary School is planning a field trip on Friday, April 27th, 2018 to Disneyland at Disneyland Drive in Anaheim, CA. This field trip would serve as a real-world example of socialization and interactions in an amusement park. This field trip will also instill financial independence as students will have to manage their funds to make decisions as to what they purchase at the park.

Potential Funding Sources
We estimate that the trip will cost approximately $8000. In order to fund this trip, we will have individual and class fundraisers as well as parent donations to support students whose families have limited incomes. -Last year we had several learners pay for their entire trip by fundraising alone.

Scholarship Opportunities
PTSA and Student Council are offering several scholarships to learners with outstanding behavior and character that could not afford to go on their own. In order to qualify for a scholarship, a learner must have A written letter from the learner explaining why they deserve to go on the field trip. A short letter from the parent explaining why they are applying for the scholarship. Outstanding behavior and academic perseverance.

Itinerary We will depart to Disneyland on a coach-type bus the morning of a Friday in April The trip will take about 8 hours with stops, so we anticipate arrival at 9am. We will be stopping for breakfast before we head into the park in order to go over guidelines for behavior, meeting times, and passing out agendas with the itinerary for the day. Then, we will head into the park where we will spend the day. We would depart the park around 10pm and that would allow us to arrive back at DOES between 5 and 6am. The target goal will be $250 per person. This includes the entry into the park, the bus rides, $20 meal voucher, and $5 in parking fees per person.

Learner Guidelines While we would love to bring every student, it is impossible due to the cost. Therefore, to ensure the most equitable selection of students, some parameters for participation have been set in place by the school district code of conduct as well as the school administration and the teachers. Students will be rated based on behavior from January until the determined field trip date. Students will not have more than 3 after school detentions and no more than one day in in-school suspension (ISS). If a student receives an out-of-school suspension (OSS), they will immediately be removed from the trip. Due to these reasons, if a student is unable to attend, there will not be any refunds for payments already received. There will not be any refunds given under any circumstances.
