The Fisheries Areas NETwork (FARNET) is:
A community - Fisheries Local Action groups (FLAGs); National Networks; Managing authorities and intermediate bodies (National and Regional governments, paying agencies); - FARNET Support Unit; European Commission
The FARNET Support Unit (FSU) is: A team of 8 permanent staff based in Brussels; 21 geographic experts; 1 interdisciplinary advisory group, thinking ahead. Activities: meetings, seminars, conferences, guidance material, website, publications (mag, newsletter…), staff!

6. Wave Restaurant: set up by a fisherman – Greece
Fisherman set up a restaurant to complement his revenue
Activity:
Develop a seafront building in the small fishing village of Emporeios into a fully equipped seafood restaurant
Results:
Create 3 jobs over the summer
New “0 km” restaurant and economic activity created
> 35% increase in annual revenue (70% increase during summer months)

7. Fishing Gear Production: diversifying activities and markets – Estonia
Fisherman set up production of fishing gear and multi-purpose nets.
Activity:
Renovation and equipping of an old shed
Products: trap nets, gillnets, trawls & playground climbing nets, football net gates and tow ropes
Results:
4,5 new jobs created
